Top Ten Monster Tanks of World War II

World War II or Second World War was a global fight that remained from 1939 to 1945. In battle, a majority of the world’s countries showed their great powers such as tanks, nuclear weapons, strategic bombing, and others. Today we will discuss Top Ten Tanks of World War II.

List of the Tanks of World War II:

1. Jagdpanther (Germany)

Jagdpanther was one of the most powerful tanks throughout World War II. In German Jagdpanther means hunting panther. During World War II Nazi Germany built this monster weapon. It was famously known as tank destroyer because of how it looked. It had a thick, heavily sloped frontal armor and had perfect qualities like speed, mobility, firepower, and protection.

2. M26 Pershing Tank (United States)

M26 Pershing Tank introduced by the USA. It arrived quite late during the World War 2. This tank named after General John. J Pershing of the AEF in France. M26 Pershing tank was not a part US Army priority because they wanted a heavy tank but M26 Pershing started as of a slow tank. M26 Pershing had thick-skinned and maximum protection in its front facing.

3. Tiger I (Germany) 

“Tiger I” was a German heavy tank which introduced in 1942. It had a crushing gun which was able to target in both air and ground. Dual power had made it one of the most Powerful Tanks of World War II. The German entitled it “Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf.E” but the allies called it Tiger. Till 1944 Tiger was strong enough that any tank was not capable to directly face Tiger during combat.

4. Comet IA 34 (Britain)

To take over Tiger and Panther tanks, Comet IA 34 was introduced by the British army in 1945. Comet had an up-armored turret with a high-velocity gun. The Design Of comet started in 1943 many companies are involved in the construction of this tank (Moore, 2016).

5. MK V Panther (Germany)

MK V Panther was a medium combat tank that entered in the World War 2 in 1943. It had good speed, off-road capabilities, incredible firepower, protection and its use of equipment was great. Later it was outnumbered by Soviet T34s.

6. IS 2 Iosif Stalin Tank (Soviet Union)

When the German and Russian were introducing ‘Tiger’ and ‘Panther’ respectively, it acknowledged that something bigger was coming along. IS-2 had introduced as soon as its main armament was ready. The new heavy tank IS-2 had partly sloped frontal armor and thick but massive main gun. IS-2 was capable of destroying Tigers and Panthers. It had fortifications with HE rounds which made it irreplaceable. (David.B, 2014).

7. T-34 (Soviet Union) 

T-34 was highest produced tank during the World War 2 and second highest produced tank of all time. This tank had thick sloped armor and voyaged which was able to 35 miles per hour. It had many advanced features and ability to blow German Panzers to hell.

8. Panzer 4 (Germany)

Panzer 4 was one the most produced German tank during the World War 2. It had a massive model which equipped with a short barrel gun for infantry support. It also had big hull and turret, easy maintenance, sturdy chassis and it was able to cope up with the Russian T-34 and KV-1.

9. Sherman Firefly (Britain)

Sherman Firefly characterized as one of the deadliest combat tanks. It was one of the few tanks that Germans feared. Its central gun was excellent compared with the other tanks at reasonable ranges but not better than the Panzer IV, the Panther, and Tiger.

10. M4 Sherman Tank (United States)

Sherman tank was second most produced combat tank during World War II. Sherman introduced in 1941 named after the famous American civil war General William T Sherman (Akalanka, 2017).  M4 Sherman was the main battle tank which built in the USA. M4 Sherman Tank was not only used by the US army but also British, Canadian and Free French forces.
